私の大好きなマリアン・ウィリアムソンの詩に、「Our Greatest Fear」というのがある。 私、これをテーマに生きてるかも。
今までいろいろ見たけど、なかなかぴったりの邦訳が見つからなくって、原作の英語で紹介します。
Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small ｄoes not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,

We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.

この詩は、ネルソン・マンデラの1994年大統領就任演説で読まれた、という「都市伝説」もあるくらい、パワフルで私たちの心を奮い立てる。
その南アフリカで、11歳の若い「詩人」がこれを読み上げたビデオが、娘のゴッドマザーから送られて来た。
大好き!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! たまらないくらい、この詩のメッセージを体現していると思う。
「Attitude is everything (態度が全て）」を証明してる。
うちの8歳の娘に見せたら、嬉々として、最初の登場の仕方や自己紹介など、早速彼女の真似をしていた。
